The Lehigh Concert Band has finished the 2015-16 concert season and is on summer break. Rehearsals will be starting in late October for next season and information will be updated closer to that time with specific dates.
The band would like to thank our loyal audience for attending and supporting us this season and wish you all a good summer and hope to see you in November. Here are some highlights of what you have enjoyed this past season. In November the band performed Armed Forces Salute and Trumpets Olé for the Lehigh Fall Festival, and our regular concert performance at Faith Lutheran church in Lehigh Acres. December was our annual Christmas concert also featuring the Lehigh Children’s Choir, and we played Sleigh Ride, Feliz Navidad, Fireside Christmas and many seasonal pieces. The concert can be viewed on our recordings page of the website. We also sent out small groups to play at the Lehigh Senior’s Center and Fountaincrest Retirement Residence. January was our salute to Broadway with music from Lion King, The Sound of Music, and other selections. A portion of the band also performed as a swing group at the annual Lehigh Chamber of Commerce Gala. February saw the performance of Danny Elfmann’s Music for a Darkened Theater, and medleys of hits by Louis Armstrong and Ray Charles. March and April concerts showcased music from The Phantom of the Opera, The Jersey Boys, a Flute solo, a euphonium solo, music from Disney, Lord of the Dance, a vocal solo, some Dixieland music and more. The band recorded the final concert in April and is making a CD.
The band is always looking for enthusiastic musicians of all ages who enjoy getting together to create a combined sound that is music to our audience’s ears. Next season we will be focusing on have more fun with our audiences and trying to grow our strong group of regular concert goers that support local music in our area.
