The Lehigh Concert Band is back.
We have selected some great music for this our 37th year of bringing music to our local community. You are going to hear some Dixieland, some Broadway musicals, some Gershwin, instrumental solos, some light upbeat music, some impressively difficult music, and of course some marches, marches, marches. Last season the band was able to increase both it’s membership and the audience and we are hoping to keep those gains and grow even more this year. The band scheduled a Christmas carol sing along event at Fountain Crest Retirement Residence and New Life Assembly of God and has the support of the Chamber of Commerce to promote the Arts of Lehigh Acres.
Backpacks for Kids Concert
Saturday April 1, 2:00 P.M.
New Life Assembly 5146 Leonard Blvd S.
The April concert will start with one of Sousa’s most famous marches The Thunderer. For the snowbirds in the audience who are preparing to return to their summer home we will play Robert Sheldon’s Travelin’ Music, based on the theme from the Arkansas traveler. The band will play an upbeat Blues Brother’s Revue and a Michael Bublé melody including Moondance, I’ve Got You Under My Skin and Save The Last Dance. The band will present a 5 member Dixieland band to swing along with and then move on to a powerful Star Wars selection that will feature music from the first 6 movies. The Lehigh Concert Brass will also perform a selection or two. The band will perform the challenging piece South West Saga by Robert Sheldon which is certain to impress everyone. The concert will conclude with Lee Greenwood’s patriotic God Bless the USA and Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever. It is a not to be missed concert of Lehigh’s only community concert band.
There will be a free will offering collected to support supplying backpacks and school supplies for kids in need.
This season we will be focusing on having more fun with our audiences and trying to grow our strong group of regular concert goers that support local music in our area.
Information on the band, the scholarship program, and other performance dates can be found on our website.
The band is always looking for enthusiastic musicians of all ages who enjoy getting together to create a combined sound that is music to our audience’s ears.
